Quotes pathwork lectures E2012
Week 1: Lecture 141: The physical system contains an inherent healing force which is always ready to cooperate with man if but given a chance. That is, when man makes an effort to comprehend the laws, to correct the impairment, when he trusts this healing natural force while he does his best, this live power begins to operate. It is exactly the same on the mental and psychic levels. There, too, healing powers exist.
Week 2: Lecture 206: The love of the universe is in every pore of your being, in every cell of your being. It is in every particle of your psychic processes. Try to know and feel this. Try to tune in to this.
Week 3: Lecture QA250: Involuntary processes give way indirectly. They appear as a natural by-product of your work to face every aspect of your being, all levels of your consciousness with kindness, acceptance and love, with the knowledge that you are an expression of God and attempt, through such a path, to bring God into your material manifestation.
Week 4: Lecture 152: As man can only find true safety when he unites with the source of all life in him, so can he find this true dignity only when he overcomes the shame to be real — whatever this may mean at the moment.
Week 6: Lecture 153: Find that in you where you not only refuse to give your best, but where you secretly even wish to give your worst to living, and you will have a key. You will have a freedom of choice you never possessed before.
Week 7: Lecture 81: The healthier your attitude towards death is, the more the life force can flow through you. That means the healthier and more enduring is the gratification of your pleasure drive. The first step is for you to detect how tremendously you struggle against death. You must become fully aware of it, just as you need to become fully aware of the constant longing for pleasure supreme. Both may indeed be very hidden.
Week 8: Lecture 51: Sanity and emotional health depend largely on the ability and the willingness to take any undesired condition and adjust to it by finding out what can be learned from it, by giving up the battle against it and relaxing inwardly, but concentrating on the cause in you that has brought the unwelcome condition about. This requires a certain humility and flexibility.
Week 9: Lecture 71: Disapproval strikes a chord in you because something knows deep down that, no matter how unfounded the criticism in this case, you yourself criticize your lack of courage to help mature the child in you. To the degree you go about this maturing process and thereby lose all the negative aspects of the child, you will gain in stature, in certainty, in clear-cut realistic concepts that you can rely upon deep within yourself. By gaining this self-respect, you will become less and less dependent on approval by others.
Week 10: Lecture 174: No trait deserves that you reject, dislike, and evaluate your whole self because of it. Once you perceive this, you can afford the wonderful, relieving luxury, if I may say, to calmly admit any undesirable, ugly trait without in the least disliking yourself for it, without in the least losing your sense of being a divine expression, no matter what the traits may be. And then and then only can you really overcome the traits.
Week 11: Lecture 128: The change lies in doing your best (in whatever area of living) rather than in giving the best impression. If you look at all your past findings in that light, you can determine the vast difference between giving the best impression so that the best will be thought of you, or actually doing the best in order to obtain a particular desired result.
Week 12: Lecture 88: Due to your work on this path, by now you all know that one of the great struggles that your consciousness has to go through in opposition to your unconscious tendencies is the desire (unconscious) to remain a clinging, protected child, to refuse the apparent hardship of adulthood, self-responsibility, and independence.
Week 13: Lecture 153: To the degree a person cultivates the attitude “I want to look the truth in the face, whatever it is, under all circumstances at all times, and whatever the momentary difficulty may be,” fear of the good life must vanish. When this truthfulness, this courage, and this humility are practiced and gradually become second nature, there is nothing to fear, and all unfulfillment ceases.
Week 14: Lecture 252: The whole idea of this pathwork is obviously designed to remove the secrets and to make yourself available. If you look back on your progress so far, from this point of view, you will see quite clearly that to whatever degree you have liberated yourself and improved your life circumstances, to whatever degree you have gained new self-confidence and a sense of your own value, to whatever degree you trust God and life more and know of divine abundance, it is due to the courage of openness and revealing of outer and/or inner subtle secrets.
Week 15: Lecture 89: Find in yourself the element where you are angry at the world for not allowing you to be your idealized self-image, where you feel it prevents you from being what you could be without its interference. Once you are aware of such emotional reactions, you will again come a great step forward.
Week 16: Lecture 199: The greater your efforts become, the more of a spiritual force you lawfully elicit and make your own. Every step of truth and good will activates automatically and inexorably the powerful and creative spiritual force within and around you.
Week 17: Lecture 202: Admit your hate. Admit your punitiveness. Admit your spitefulness. To the degree you do so, you start loving. You have started on the bottom rung of the ladder of love the minute you admit the ugly truth that you wanted hidden and for which, on top of it, you rendered the other person responsible.
Week 18: Lecture 193: Know when to concentrate on the higher self so as to strengthen its staying power and make it possible for it to give further guidance; when to pay attention to the lower self with its hidden evil, its dishonesty and cheating, its camouflaged hate and malice; when to focus on the specific devices of the mask self — how it masks itself, what defenses it uses in order to keep the lower self hidden, etc.; and to know when the moment is here to experience feelings that have been avoided. The fine alternations must be sensed for everyone has a different rhythm.
Week 19: Lecture 145: As long as you are very determined to follow the inner values, the outer values will cease to be important, either in your own mind or in the outer manifestation of your life. That is, you will no longer fear when your personal course of life does not coincide with the conventions. You will not fear this deviation. Soon outer life will follow suit, and no friction will accrue. The world will fall in with you.
Week 20: Lecture 201: You always have to begin where it is accessible and you have to leap with the thought over the barrier of the “I cannot” into “It is possible. These potentialities exist in me and I claim them. I want to make them available.”
Week 21: Lecture 152: Life and feelings are one. Where there is one, there must be the other even if one is inactivated at the moment. Knowing this makes it possible to set out for the search within, “Where have I decided not to feel?” The moment you become acutely aware of this, aware of your fear to feel, you will cease to fear that you have no feelings.
Week 22: Lecture 175: Whatever suffering you human beings feel, it truly is illusory in the ultimate sense. Once you find your true identity within, you will know it. It is all a play, a fascination, an experiment, from which your real state of being can be recaptured if only you will truly try.
Lecture 243: It is the ultimate aim of self-realization to establish the truth of God, of eternal life, of the benign meaning of everything in every crevice of consciousness. This process is the very reason for incarnation and purification.
Week 24: Lecture 77: Only when your intuitive nature guides and directs you can you trust yourself. From this part of your being, you have nothing to fear; from the overlayers of error, illusion, and compulsion, you have. For they can only lead you into further illusion and error and therefore into unrest.
Week 25: Lecture 241: “I will let go and move ahead inwardly — in my state of consciousness, in my attitude, in my approach to life, in my value system, in my thought processes, in the feelings I am accustomed to responding to my experiences.”
Week 26: Lecture 149: In order to experience pleasure, a relaxed inner state must exist; a flexible climate must prevail; a life-affirming, positive, inclusive attitude is necessary.
Week 27: Lecture 203: When you can increasingly produce feelings, you will not only be more able to bring out any last vestiges and remnants of residual feelings that have been neglected, but even when they are completely gone, your emotional fluidity should be practiced so that your soul substance remains vibrant and flowing.
Week 28: Lecture 241: You wonder and become discouraged why you do not grow faster, why you do not succeed in resolving problems more effectively, more fully, more deeply, more speedily. And you do not want to see that, at the same time, there is a strong voice in you that doe: s not want to move because you do not want to give up or let go of something.
Week 29: Lecture 211: the more you expose the destructive part, the more you know of your true creative self. The more you expose the ugliness, the more you know your beauty. The more you expose the hatred and all its derivatives, the more you know of your already existing state of love that can then shine through.
Week 30: Lecture 236: It is courage to risk finding out that your negative beliefs may not be true. It takes even more courage to not be discouraged.
Week 31: Lecture 204: Today man’s greatest hindrance is his egotistical pride. He has accomplished much with the powers of his ego. He needed to develop these powers in order to no longer be an irresponsible, helpless child. But the powers within himself must now be freed from within his spiritual center and not be ascribed to the ego.
Week 32: Lecture 113: Wherever you find your stringent need to be in control — of others, of a situation, of a relationship — you have a direct clue to your nonidentification with yourself.
Week 33: Lecture 112: Listlessness, depression, impatience, nervousness, anxiety, tension, frustration, boredom, apathy, hostility — all these emotions, and many others are, in the last analysis, a result of unutilized time, of not doing the utmost that is potentially possible in order to understand yourself and to dissolve inner conflict and confusion.
Week 34: Lecture 187: Let painful experiences and feelings be in you! Go with them. Do not fight them. Accept them in the realization that somehow you must have created this condition. Thus the anger and resentment you feel against life will decrease.
Week 35: Lecture 140: The finding and the awareness of deliberate negative desires or the avoidance of positive results (which amounts to the same thing) is an essential milestone on your whole road of evolution. This is practically more important than anything else.
Week 36: Lecture 195: You must sooner or later come to terms with the fact that your life is the result of your choices. And choice implies the possibility to adopt another attitude. In other words, you truly discover on a deep level that you are free.
Week 37: Lecture 120: The transition from utter self-centeredness to concern for others is a crucial period in the development of an entity, whether this entity be an individual human being or mankind as a whole.
Week 38: Lecture 201: It is absolutely necessary that you be totally aware of and make all the connecting links of cause and effect, of received pain and given pain and how one leads to the other and back in an endless chain reaction. It is in your power any time you wish to break this chain.
Week 39: Lecture 176: In order to reestablish the person you once were, before you became involved with negative creating — long before this earth life — in order to reexperience yourself as that which you essentially and ultimately are, that which you have always been and that which you will always be, you have to test and consider the possibility of positive creating.
Week 40: Lecture 197: Resistance is, in one way or another, always connected with “I do not want to be hurt” — whether this hurt is an actual one or an imagined one, whether this hurt is due to self-will that says, “I must not be hurt,” or to the pride that says, “I will never admit that I can be hurt,” or to the fear that says, “if I am hurt, I must perish.” It is again an expression of distrusting the universe.
Week 41: Lecture 112: Listlessness, depression, impatience, nervousness, anxiety, tension, frustration, boredom, apathy, hostility — all these emotions, and many others are, in the last analysis, a result of unutilized time, of not doing the utmost that is potentially possible in order to understand yourself and to dissolve inner conflict and confusion.
Week 42: Lecture 204: Very, very few people on this earth are willing to undertake this path. Even fewer follow it through all the way. Most people wishfully think that they may find another way to reach fulfillment that will lead them around their dark spots. They do not want to know that it is those dark spots in them that render them unhappy and lonely.
Week 43: Lecture 16: When you conquer yourself, you are a vital part of the great plan of salvation. You are then an active soldier in the fight. You are a front line soldier. And a front line soldier needs better weapons, more strength, and better protection than one who does not fight back or who is only in the hinterland. These weapons and strength come to you from the spirit world of God in guidance, enlightenment, recognition.
Week 44: Lecture 139: Ask yourself do you truly wish to see yourself totally, as you are? Do you cultivate such aim by expressing this desire, particularly in moments of discontent and disharmony? Or are you quick with glibly furnishing outer “explanations” for your disharmony? Or do you, perhaps, generally admit that it must be in you, because you know enough about the truth of these matters, but let it go at that, without the willingness to really look?
Week 45: Lecture 190: When you replace the feeling with knowing, the unity of these two functions is interrupted in the same way as when you feel and do not know what the feelings mean, why and how they came about, nor how they direct your life now.
Week 46: Lecture 77: The real feelings are calm. They do not mind being patient. When they express themselves, there will be no doubt, no wavering. Since they are one with the stream of life, they will carry you in the right direction, and you will have no doubt about it if you are but willing and patient enough to trust them.
Week 47: Lecture 250: Every human being contains a built-in mechanism that makes receiving quite impossible when the soul holds in its innate capacity and yearning to give. Since in reality giving and receiving are one and the same flow, movement, and phenomenon; the one cannot exist without the other.
Week 48: Lecture QA245: Jesus said that you must forsake your mother and father and your mate in order to follow Him. He did not mean that you must hate your parents or have contempt for them. It means that you should grow up and find your own truth; that you should free yourself from all preconceived notions and ideas and thus make yourself sufficiently empty and new so that new truths can fill you.
Week 49: Lecture 257: Dedication to the truth must bring in its wake the willingness and the courage to expose. If exposure is not undertaken willingly, it will come from outside, by force, as it were, through crises that throw a secret matter to the surface. Once the force of the new influx is set in motion, it cannot be halted. The more it is opposed, the more painful crisis it brings.
Week 50: Lecture 166: As the wish to remain negative is being given up and exchanged for a wish to be outgoing, positive, giving, the fear of self will vanish.
Week 51: Lecture 219: At this time, in your realm of consciousness, you celebrate a certain symbolic event. This event is the celebration of the Christ consciousness, or the divine consciousness deep within your own being. Most human beings live a lifetime — nay, many lifetimes — without ever knowing that there is something within that surpasses the ordinary consciousness. This extraordinary consciousness, the sublime consciousness, must be awakened within the course of the evolutionary journey of each entity.
Week 52: Let the light of truth and love fill your day, fill your actions, fill your attitudes toward yourself, and let the involuntary constructive forces of the Christ consciousness take over and carry you to create and recreate, thus making your life the glory that is yours to behold and to experience.
